The Formation of the AFCOM Northern California Chapter
The AFCOM Northern California Chapter was initiated by Jim Gammon, Sales Executive for Lee Technologies in early 2008. He was interested in joining a local AFCOM chapter in Northern California and was surprised to find out one did not exist. Jim attended the AFCOM Data Center World show in Las Vegas in March 2008 and met with many of the chapter presidents from around the country. He came away convinced that the San Francisco Bay Area needed a diverse forum for professionals from IT, Facilities and related data center disciplines to meet for focused sessions and networking opportunities.
After holding an initial chapter development meeting in Mid-April, Maricel Cerruti of TELADATA and Craig Easley from Modius joined Jim in working closely with the AFCOM National office to recruit a world class board of directors and initiate and plan the first official Northern California AFCOM chapter meeting.
